Conservatives are Anti-Freedom

Yesterday after reading about the new movie "Expelled" I started thinking about what are the actual difference in conservatives and liberals? I simply did a Google search and the wiki definitions are the ones which I am going with today. According to wiki conservatives are against change http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism. Liberals on the other hand are for individual rights and freedoms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism. These may be broad statements but the work for my view. So what are you? I consider myself a liberal for I do feel that we as Americans and all peoples no matter what country of origin should be free. They should not be kept in the dark about what is going on and told how to think or act. Now if you are the type of person who likes having the upper class and the middle etc. Then fine, conservatism is great for you. Being a conservative you should expect nothing new. You should expect education to fall on it's face. You should expect to be told how to live your life even in regards to the sexual relationships which you choose to have or not have. I like to be called a liberal because I want to be free and to be a conservative I will have to trample on the rights of others by definition and the world will never improve.

This is certainly true in the case of radical social conservatives who want to impose their particular religious beliefs on the rest of society. I think fear is a powerful motivator in these cases.

As for Expelled, the people involved in the making of the movie are disingenuous at best and unethical at worst. They have distorted facts and manipulated people from the beginning in order to convince a gullible public that science = atheism = genocide. We can only hope that those who see the film will recognize it for the propaganda piece it is.
